VOLUNTARY WORK AND INTERESTS
I maintain a commitment to my community. I have had interests in a range of community groups, and was Chair of my local Community Association when in Manchester. Included periods as a community representative for an SRB Regeneration Executive and participation in various consultative forums.
Voluntary work at a community centre has included helping with building maintenance, setting up community art projects, staff recruitment and supervision, policy making, community networking and promoting community led public services.
I have been active in voluntary childcare groups, at one time being a local contact for the National Childbirth Trust. I have also volunteered with various community based organisations involved with international development and environmental issues.

Volunteering overlaps with my work interests, which focus around how people collective debate, design and act out ideas that work for them, within their personal and public roles, within community buildings and within institutions, in ways that generates positive social capital. I recognise the benefits that others and I gain from living in a diverse, stimulating and culturally rich world. I have seen the damage poverty and discrimination can inflict on individuals, excluding them from the benefits and opportunities enjoyed by others.

PERSONAL
I live in Lancaster and I am prepared to work across the country. My family connections overseas have led me to travel widely, both on work and for personal reasons.
I have no known medical conditions or physical disabilities and have a full clean driving licence. I was born in 1962.
